Singleness doesn’t mean loneliness

Don’t let superstition take you into the new year. Every promise behind that little smooch at the countdown is not only a fantacy, but a lie. Singleness doesn’t mean loneliness. At this year’s countdown: Hold on to Jesus, for He promised never to leave you nor forsake you. Cherish the people He has placed into your life. Build on and invest in the friendships He has gifted you with. Finally, to my friends who are still single – you need to remember, even if there is a special someone with you at the countdown, the kiss of heaven is the only kiss that ensures the blessings you desire for 2016. Happy New Year

Greener Grass Syndrome

Everybody wants a great relationship, a great marriage. Everybody wants a good job, you know, job security. Everybody want a church they can call home. Everybody wants a great ministry, to be used by God. Not too many, though, want to do what’s necessary to make it happen where they are. They are always looking for something better on the other side of the fence. The way to fix that is simple: You love what you have You nurture what you have You invest in what you have You put value on what you have You believe in what you have You are grateful and thankful for what you have You cherish what you have You water where you are This is the cure, I think, to the greener grass syndrome. If you love your country, make it a better place. If you love your home, make it a better place. If you love you church, make it a better place. If you love your school, your neighborhood, make it a better place. You never …

5 Ways to actively share your faith in the marketplace

The Priesthood of Every believer I believe in the Priesthood of every believer. We are not all call to stand behind a pulpit, nor do we all have to be named prophet or evangelist, but we are all called to give an account for why we believe in Jesus Christ. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 There is a great deal of responsibility that goes with the idea of being a priest. It is a role that should never be taken  lightly. That’s because the life of many depend on it, especially in the Marketplace. I believe that God has strategically called everyone of us to shine His light in every corner of our world. For many, it is the Marketplace. The question is – How can one effectively and actively share his faith in the marketplace? I have five suggestions: Cease opportunities but don’t …

Reconciliation: Two Worlds Collide

The last few months have been a moving apart of many nations, cities, and Peoples. From the Middle East, to Eastern Europe, Parts of Africa, to Ferguson, conflict, strife and dissension seem to be pulling people and communities further apart. There is no telling of how this falling apart, affects families, Churches and relationships. I am however hopeful, that just as a people fall apart, there will come a time of healing and reconciliation. This is the will of God; and Quite frankly, our world needs this desperately. There is an account in Genesis chapters 24-33 that tell the story of two brothers. It is a story of love and hate; friendship and hostility. It is a story of a falling out. 20 years of grudge and separation. It is a very strong desire to revenge, as well as arrogance and un-repentance. For the most part, it was 20 years of deception, mistrust, deceit, anger, bitterness and the misery of resisting God  Everything was great between them until one betrayed the other. As difficult and impossible as it …

Covenant Friendship

Covenant friendship is one of heaven’s greatest blessings. I believe it was Michael Smith who said, “friends are friends forever if the Lord is the Lord of them.” We catch glimpses of it, between Ruth and Naomi. “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.” (Ruth 1:16, 17).

THE BOOK A FATHER’S INSIGHTS FOR MEN ON LIFE’S SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES We’re living through a profound crisis of masculinity, fostered by a media culture that idolizes youth and demonizes the strong male role. As a result, young men in their twenties and thirties aren’t encouraged to grow up, and their energy and talent are being squandered. The absence of fathers and male mentors leaves many young men spiraling emotionally, spiritually, and financially for years. Pastor Dave Bruskas Envisions A Better Future—One In Which Young Men Can Flourish And Take Their God-Given Seat At Life’s Table. Twenty years ago, Dave lost his infant son to a congenital heart defect. That devastating loss has fueled his desire to provide effective mentoring to young men ever since. Dear Son contains the insights Pastor Dave has given hundreds of young men and would have given his son if he had lived through life’s key milestones: first dates and first jobs weddings and births graduations, and much more You won’t want to miss the timeless wisdom from this sonless father …

5 demons you will have to fight as long as you are married

I believe in happily ever after. But the road to get there is not necessarily paved with gold. “Any mature, spiritually sensitive view of marriage must have at its foundation, mature love and not romanticism.” True marriage thrives on a willingness to work hard and a resolve to fight for all the promises that marriage holds. In this post, I highlight five obstacles to happily ever after: 1. Unhappiness A sense of happiness is very essential to the overall health of your marriage. Without it, the doors swing wide open to infidelity, anger, and divorce. The problem with happiness though, it comes and it goes. Finding a way to bring it back by intentionally working on the things that make you happy is key to a successful marriage. Gary Thomas asked a very powerful question in his book Sacred Marriage that I think is a starting point to understanding happiness in marriage. He asked, “What If God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy?” I believe if we are seeking holiness in our marriage it will produce the happiness we so …

5 ways to Rekindle the flame in the ashes of your love life

As we approach Valentines Day, I would urge you to take advantage of the opportunity to make thing better in your relationship with you spouse. Here are 10 Simple, yet powerful ways you can rekindle the ashes of your love life: 1. Address every unresolved issue in your relationship I understand that women feel very deeply about things, but men do too. It is important to deal with hurts and disappointments as promptly as possible. If we allow the sun to go down on our wrath, we run the risk of opening the door to resentment and bitterness. This is never a good place to dwell in a relationship.. It is important, therefore, to resolve every conflict. Repent and forgive. 2. Focus on the little things Sometimes in life the things that matter most are small things. Little gestures of kindness. Little acts of grace. Little moments of tenderness. Little sacrificial service. All these can add up to spark an unstoppable flame. It really doesn’t have to be a diamond ring – I’m sure that wouldn’t hurt, cuz …
