GRATITUDE IS NOT A FEELING

GRATITUDE IS NOT A FEELING Gratitude is not a feeling – it is a response to the goodness of God in every season of life. In trouble times our trust and our attitude are sometimes bend out of shape. Our perspective get blurred with doubt and fear. Gratitude is a perspective adjuster. When we bring to memory the blessings of time past, focus on the little blessings all around us, and above all see who God truly is even in the midst of chaos – our gratitude begins to shape our perspective. The scriptures says to “give thanks in everything for it is the will of God concerning you.” Our gratitude allows us to see the hand of God in everything we go through. We begin to see how God a making all things to work together for our God. We begin to see the big picture. At this time, because of a clear and heavenly perspective that God is in control – we can now turn our worries into praise – our mourning into …

Monday Night Meditation

This text makes reference to the house of David and when we look at this house it is lying in ruins. For 600 years we see a bare , withered tree stump, robbed of its trunk and top. It looks as if the stump will never bear any fruit any more. When it all seem bleak, dark and a lost cause , God, on Christmas night, stepped out of eternity and into time in the form of a baby. All of a sudden, from this long-dead stump springs forth new life. Let me prophesy over you this day after Christmas: Things that you thought were once dead are breathing in life again Years the cankerworm has eaten are being restored in your life Valley places are being raised up Crooked places are being made smooth Dead seeds are invigorated Dead dreams rejuvenated Dead ends obliterated I see light at the end of your tunnel Something good is already happening to you. Your possibilities are endless Your resurgence is inevitable Your prospects are bright So step …

Seven-fold Blessing of Delight

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears (reveres and worships) the Lord, is the man who delights greatly in His commandments. Delight Psalm 1:1, 2 says, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” The power of delight occurs approximately 110 times in Scripture in various forms. Less than fifteen occurrences are found in the New Testament. The word “please” which is related to delight occurs about 350 times, about seventy-five of these occurrences in the New Testament. The Old Testament however, has two of the most common Hebrew terms for delight which means “to bend towards, or to be inclined towards an object or person” and “to delight or take pleasure in.” A reverent respect mixed with love and hope and a holy bend or inclination toward God and all He is and stands for …

Everything in life is about stewardship

Stewardship is a careful, responsible and faithful supervision and management  of something entrusted to a person. As much as I like to think that everything I have, who I am and what I am capable of originates with me, the truth is: He made me He gifted me He prospers me He uses me My good looks, bank rolls and resource My time, talent and treasure My smarts, style and pzazz all come from a generous and loving God. God owns everything. We have all been entrusted with something. It is our responsibility to not only recognize that everything is His, but to also respond to this trust with dedicated and faithful stewardship. Scripture References Deuteronomy 8:17-18 “You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth” 1 Peter 4:9 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Corinthians 9:17 “For …

Is Anything too hard for God

Is anything too hard for God? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son. Genesis 18:14 Abraham and his wife, as we know, had no children for a long time. They had longed to have children, But Sarah was barren. In this chapter, they are old,  hopeless, a little bitter toward God. They had waited for a long time in prayer, but nothing yet had moved in their favor. Doubt and disappointment had set in! And instead of focusing on the greatness of God, they made their childless situation greater than God, by focusing on it. It is in this context that the question God asked Abraham is truly understood. “Is anything too hard for the Lord? The announcement of a somewhat miraculous conception for a woman in her old age was ridiculously laughable. So Sarah laughed. I think, a follow-up question would have put things – a little more in perspective for them: Is anything too hard for God? Haven’t you heard …
