This text makes reference to the house of David and when we look at this house it is lying in ruins. For 600 years we see a bare , withered tree stump, robbed of its trunk and top. It looks as if the stump will never bear any fruit any more. When it all seem bleak, dark and a lost cause , God, on Christmas night, stepped out of eternity and into time in the form of a baby. All of a sudden, from this long-dead stump springs forth new life. Let me prophesy over you this day after Christmas: Things that you thought were once dead are breathing in life again Years the cankerworm has eaten are being restored in your life Valley places are being raised up Crooked places are being made smooth Dead seeds are invigorated Dead dreams rejuvenated Dead ends obliterated I see light at the end of your tunnel Something good is already happening to you. Somebody once said that if you ask God to give you patience, “he may allow difficult situations in your life to help you cultivate it.” Unfortunately, these situations are never pleasant and none of us look forward to any one of them. But apparently, they seem like the most logical place for patience to develop. Paul understood this very well. Remember the thorn in his flesh? Speaking to this very situation he said, “In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We “patiently” endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind. It rains fish in desert places when God gets ready to bless you!

I am about to tell you a true story that will blow your mind. The country is Australia. The town is Lajamanu and it is about 400 miles south of Darwin and Alice Springs, almost on the edge of  the Tanami Desert in Australia’s northern territory. It was sometime in April or March of 2010 that hundreds of fish began to fall from the sky as rain fell over the town. Residents of this desert community were left speechless as fish – some frozen, others still alive fell from the sky. For seven days they ran all around town collecting buckets of fish  that had fallen from the sky. A brief look at history will tell us that this incident was not unique to this Australian town: In the 1st century there were storms of frogs and fishes. In 1794 French soldiers reported toads falling from the sky. In 1857: Sugar crystals as big as quarter  of an inch in diameter fell over the course of two days in Lake County,  California. Psalm 127:2 Let me clarify or unpack a few things before we get to the heart of the matter here in Psalm 127. First of all, the first three verses of Psalm 127 is not an encouragement to laziness. When Jesus said, “Look at the birds of the air they don’t plant, harvest, or gather the harvest into barns. Yet, your heavenly Father feeds them. Look at the lilies of the field, they don’t work or make their clothing,” – he was not telling us that we should not work. We know from other passages that if we do not work we will not eat. Diligence is neither greed nor restless anxiety Those who build a house must indeed labor on it, and certainly the watchman of a city must certainly stay awake.  Children are a heritage from the Lord – his gift, yet husband and wife must do something in bringing the …

In 1866 an amateur geologist noticed some South African children playing with a glistening rock. Intrigued, he asked the children’s mother if he could buy it. She said it wasn’t worth anything and simply give it to him for free. Later when he examined it more closely, his hunch was confirmed, it was a diamond. He calculated its weight at 21 carats. Are you a young christian thinking that your new-found faith is worth nothing? Have you given up trying to find a new church for your family because of the bad experience you had in your last church?
