Day #21: How to fix your identity crisis?

Who are you listening to? What are you reading? Or, might I ask – what are you watching? Whoever or whatever has your attention is shaping your life and your destiny. You say, “brother, I am not listening to anyone but myself.” Well, what are you telling yourself? If we are ever going to live to our full potential and experience the fullness of life, we must allow the truth of God’s word to shape and direct our lives. If we are going to shame the naysayers and haters; live out the gospel in a hostile world, and win the war on negativity and pessimism, we must regularly remind ourselves by speaking the word of our confession. This must include an overwhelming exposure of our entire lives to the Word of God. We must study, Meditate, confess and commit to radical obedience. It is also important that we develop core values and principles from the heart of God that we can use to remind ourselves regularly. Here is my 10: I am known.  Even if …

Day #20: I am an Instrument of Reconciliation

Where there is hatred, let me bring love. Where there is racism, let me bring justice. Where there is discrimination, let me bring equality. Where there is division, let me build a bridge. Where there are lies, let me bring truth. Where there is bitterness, let me bring forgiveness. Where there is confusion, let me bring light. It wouldn’t be much of a shocker, if I were to tell you that we live in a fallen world. It is quite obvious. Racial tension has not only divided our country profoundly, it has lead to the death of too many good men, both citizens and law enforcement on our streets. For example: Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Walter Scott, Philando Castile, and many others gun down by the very people commissioned to protect them. Scott Leslie Bashioum Justin Martin, Anthony “Tony” Beminio and many others Policemen and women ambushed and killed by the very people they did their best to protect on a daily basis. This must stop! The 2016 elections, as we all know …

Day #19: I am a Royal Priest

The priest is not made. He must be born a priest; must inherit his office. I refer to the new birth—the birth of water and the Spirit. Thus all Christians must became priests, children of God and co-heirs with Christ the Most High Priest. Martin Luther Where do we get this idea of the Priesthood of the believer? We get right out of the Bible. Check this out – scripture says: We have been called/chosen “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 We have been chosen for several reasons: To be a people for His possession. To proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us We are being built into a spiritual house “You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter …

Day #18: I am Seated with Christ

The only viable way to advance in our faith life is to learn what every child learns first to do – sit. To sit is to come into rest and rest is in the finished work of Christ. “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3 To be seated with Christ is to be in a place of authority “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” Luke 10:19 To be seated with Christ is to be in a place of victory “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 To be seated with Christ is to be is to have the mind of Christ “For who …

Day #17: I am a child of God

Jesus came to announce to us that an identity based on success, popularity, and power is a false identity—an illusion! Loudly and clearly He says, ‘You are not what the world makes you, but you are children of God. Henri Nouwen We are all created by God, but we are not all children of God. A child of God is a person who has put their trust in God believing and receiving Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. As a result of that, we become a part of God’s family. John 1:12 – “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. There are too many attractions and distractions in this life that seek to over shadow that truth. Therefore, the child of God must jealously guard this sacred truth. To lose it is to lose his true identity …

Day #16: I am Delivered

Fear not death for the sooner we die, the longer we shall be immortal. Benjamin Franklin The fear of death if a lifelong slavery for many. Man has always dreaded this unavoidable ending. If there were a pill to eradicate the death, I believe everyone is going to save up to buy and take it. Miraculously, Jesus Christ has given Himself over to death so that He can delivered us from the one who has the power of death. Look with me at Hebrews 2:14-15: Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. As followers of Jesus, we know who we are and where we are going. We’ve been delivered from the fear of death. We have what the Bible calls our ‘blessed hope’. This blessed hope is best known as a ‘blessed assurance’ …
