Midnight cry: 4 Prayers from Psalm 31

Good Morning Everyone, I’m sorry about my absence. Lately, life has been super busy, and there are some new and exciting things happening, those I will share at another time. Just after midnight last night I took some time to pray, but I couldn’t find the words. So I started reading Psalm 31, a PowerFULL Psalm, and suddenly I knew exactly what to pray for. I’m sure you have been in that place before – you just don’t know what or how to pray, but the Holy Spirit shows and helps you to pray according to the will of God. As I read the Psalm four prayers stood out to me. Let me share them, maybe you could use them too: 4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me Traps set by the enemy of my soul. Heal my heart and make it clean Open up my eyes to the things unseen Show me how to love like You have loved me Break my heart for what breaks Yours We are living in a day and time where everything we see or hear, potentially, has a deadening effect on us spiritually. The movies, the tv shows, the music and even our culture has this deadening effect on our sensitivity to what is holy and of God. Some of us have already become desensitized to these horrors and filth all around. To become desensitized is to become numb, stupefied or less likely to feel shocked or distressed at scenes of horror, sexual perversion, cruelty, violence and suffering by overexposure to such images. That is why a prayer like “break my heart Lord, for what breaks yours” is so powerful and timely. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom. 2 Timothy 4:1 Part 1 “Charge” is a strong word (diamarturomai), usually translated testified (such as in Acts 8:25). The idea is that Paul is giving solemn testimony to Timothy, testimony that Timothy must heed if he will be a godly pastor. The verb diamartyromai has legal connections and can mean ‘testify under oath’ in a court of law, or to ‘adjure’ a witness to do so. The members of the court where Paul gives this testimony make it all the more significant: before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead. As Paul sits in his cold, damp prison cell, he understands there is a spiritual reality present that goes beyond the walls of his cell. Spiritually, through a letter, he is giving solemn testimony to his young friend and associate, and doing it in the presence of the God who will judge us all. …

Five marks of revived churches J. I. Packer, writing in God in our Midst (Ann Arbor, 1987), pages 24-35, proposes that, among the variety of God’s ways, five constants appear in all biblical revivals: 1. Awareness of God’s presence: “The first and fundamental feature in renewal is the sense that God has drawn awesomely near in his holiness, mercy and might.” 2. Responsiveness to God’s Word: “The message of Scripture which previously was making only a superficial impact, if that, now searches its hearers and readers to the depth of their being.” 3. Sensitiveness to sin: “Consciences become tender and a profound humbling takes place.” 4. Liveliness in community: “Love and generosity, unity and joy, assurance and boldness, a spirit of praise and prayer, and a passion to reach out to win others, are recurring marks of renewed communities.” 5.
