Let Him set you up!

Every hard working person deserve a promotion and or a raise. Unfortunately, the way of hard work is not the usual route taken today. There is a game, for lack of a better description, that is being played everyday in the work place. People are trying by the minute to position themselves, set themselves up for promotion every minute of the day. Everyone’s trying to get ahead, and they do it at the expanse of others. It happens all the time, a team member or a friend steals the ideas of others and take credit for them. Co-workers, business partners and close associates put roadblocks in the way of others in order to take what belongs to them. Sadly, people forge friendships with the sole goal of using others to get to where they want to go – professionally, politically, socially, etc… This same scenario is played out in “the church.” Yet, these people stand behind pulpits and act as if they are more spiritual than every body else. But when you take a closer …

5 Ways to actively share your faith in the marketplace

The Priesthood of Every believer I believe in the Priesthood of every believer. We are not all call to stand behind a pulpit, nor do we all have to be named prophet or evangelist, but we are all called to give an account for why we believe in Jesus Christ. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 There is a great deal of responsibility that goes with the idea of being a priest. It is a role that should never be taken  lightly. That’s because the life of many depend on it, especially in the Marketplace. I believe that God has strategically called everyone of us to shine His light in every corner of our world. For many, it is the Marketplace. The question is – How can one effectively and actively share his faith in the marketplace? I have five suggestions: Cease opportunities but don’t …

God Controls Promotion and Success

A few week ago, my wife got a promotion at her work. She still had to apply and be interviewed for it, but I remember how exciting it was for all of us when she shared the news. We texted each other, shouted and celebrated later that evening with a cold bottle of Sparkling Cider. She had worked hard and truly deserved it. A few days after I reflected on this, I concluded that even though we ought to work hard and do our best at work, our promotion doesn’t necessarily come just by our personal and professional growth. There is another element we often overlook. Let me share with you an excerpt from Howard Dayton’s “Your Money Map” to better illustrate. He writes, As much as it may surprise you, your boss is not the one who controls whether you will be promoted. The bible says, “For promotion and power come from nowhere, but only from God.” The bible also reveals the reason for Joseph’s success: The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered… The Lord gave him …

Strong Finish: Part 1 Strong Family

The graveyard is the riches place on earth, because it is here that you find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were ever sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because some one was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or decide to carry out their dreams. -Les Brown What’s your hope and dream for your family? How determined are you to see it come to fruition? Every family needs Jesus as foundation of their home. Every family has to have a sense of mission and purpose at the heart of the home. Every family needs to have love, integrity and a good and balanced work ethic at the center of their lives. The lack of these qualities and a misguided sense of purpose have thrown many families in a downward spiral, failing to finish stronger than they started. A lot of families are running after too many things that really don’t matter. …

Fulfill your Ministry

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’  Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”  Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said: “Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is a desolate waste,  Isaiah 6:8-11 It is a great feeling to receive the call of God to any given work or mission. The idea of hearing from God and knowing that He hand-picked for a purpose is very special. But it is extremely difficult to get up and fulfill that ministry everyday. Sooner or later, you will discover that the call is not a feeling but …

With the Word and the Spirit together, you grow up.

Too much Word and not enough Spirit you puff up. Too much Spirit and not enough Word you blow up. With the Word and the Spirit together, you grow up. – Anonymous How you seek this kind of balance in ministry is what this post is about. Just before I went to seminary for a four and a half of preparation for ministry, the Lord impressed on my heart a verse from Luke chapter 4. I started meditating upon it, but didn’t get it until the end of my first semester. I went to church at least five different times during the week. I lived on campus, so I attended our school chapel time, midweek bible study, Friday nigh prayer meetings, than both Sunday morning and Sunday evening services. I had wonderful, Spirit filled professors,  great prayer meetings and church services, but my personal prayer time, bible reading and meditation and my personal evangelism gradually came to a standstill. My passion, my fire was going out little by little. I thought to myself, I’m in the right place, …
