A Message About your Future

The scripture under discussion today is one among many that changed the course of my life forever. I want to talk about the future – but allow me to go back about twenty-five years to when I first met the Lord and understood that He had a plan for my life. It was an eye opener – a treasured discovery that sparked in me a curiosity to understand all the things God had planned for life and my future. The first passage that really got the ball rolling for me is found in Acts 13:36 For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. This passage blew my mind. So if God had a purpose for David’s life in his generation, does that mean that God has a plan for me in my generation? I went-really? That God has a purpose for me in my generation. What is it? The first sermon I ever worked on was based on a …

Fearfully and wonderfully made

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Psalm 139:13-15 And God saw everything that He had made and behold it was very good. Gen. 1:31 If the saying “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” was really true, there will be no one in our world struggling with low self-esteem, insecurities and inferiority complex. There will be no deaths because of the words bullies use to hurt and intimidate people. Words are powerful. They can make or break you. Proverbs says, there is “life and death in the power of the tongue.” And James says, “the tongue is a fire, a restless evil full of deadly poison.” If you grew up hearing your parents, close friends  or bullies calling you damaged …

I am 100% Recycled Trash

There is a growing awareness and an increasing effort to recycle in our world today.  It is going on all around us: I read an article some time ago about a house in Colorado called the Earthship. It is not only beautiful, it is also an environmentally friendly, 10,000 square foot home-made of used tires, aluminum cans and other recycled materials. The Earthship is made of junk, but it has been featured on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Home and Gardens, the Discovery Channel, and PBS. If you want to buy one, it is all yours for only 3.3 million dollars. There are not many things that are not being recycled today:• Recycled paper products• Recycled glass and metal products• Salvage yards recycle car, truck and machinery parts• There are many reports that Habitat for Humanity opened a used building materials outlet   in Denver a few years ago• Even our thrift stores and garage sales are ways people recycle. What am I trying to say to you? God is in the recycling business. He’s been in the business longer than anyone. It …

Don’t worry be happy!

Here’s little post I wrote You might want to read it Line  by Line Don’t worry be happy! Have you ever heard people say things like – “when I get that house up in the hills, or that car – “than” I will be happy?” I have! I have heard and seen people try to make material goods, success, social status and outside influences or events control or dictate their level of happiness. When I get that pair of legs – than I will be happy When I get that promotion or raise – than I will be happy When I meet Mr. Or Mrs. Right – than I will be happy But what people fail to realize is that riches, material blessings, the ideal life and all your hopes and dreams combined can not make you happy. Your happiness does not depend on or should not be dependent upon others, circumstances or what you have or have not. The bible says that a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of what he …

Are we Truly Powerful beyoud Measure?

ARE WE TRULY POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE? Here is a video that I enjoyed watching. I enjoyed the narration of Ali, Tony and Rocky, if indeed they were the ones in the video. The stories of these men are great and inspiring in many ways. I think the video has value and is useful in motivating anyone whether a believer or not. Everyone of us need a little kick in the pants from time to time. I think this video does just that – it inspires. Having said that, I also think that every believer and follower of Christ should be a bit more discerning watching or using this video in any christian setting. The reason for that is because of some of the characters in the video and some profoundly confusing quotes mentioned there in that deserve our close scrutiny.  One of them is, ‘we are powerful beyond measure!” Are we truly powerful beyond measure? Before we answer the question, let us look at all the actors in the video. Here are the players in the video up close: Marianne Williamson is an internationally acclaimed author …

Presbyopia! What?

You are getting old! I visited my optometrist the other day for a complete eye checkup. After he completed the checkup, he asked me if I liked 50 Cents words. I said no! He said well, I am going to tell you anyways because that’s the condition that you have. He said you have Presbyopia! And I went – WHAT? He said, when you hit or pass the milestone age of 40 you will notice that it becomes a little more difficult to focus on objects up close because of Presbyopia. You are simply getting old! Well, I picked up my glasses this morning. It is nothing fancy but here is what it looks like:             Okay, you are 39 and younger,  sitting there laughing or going poor guy, he’s getting old. But trust me your time is coming. Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 12:3 when the keepers of the house tremble,  and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few,  and those looking through the windows grow dim; Here …

Quotations About Prayer

…the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working… James 5:16 John Wesley God does nothing except in response to believing prayer.”  (Famous evangelist who spent 2 hours daily in prayer)   S.D. Gordon Prayer strikes the winning blow; service is simply picking up the pieces.”  One should never initiate anything that he cannot saturate with prayer.” The greatest thing anyone can do for God or man is pray.” Martin Luther If I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory through the day. I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer.  Chuck Smith Prayer does not change the purpose of God.  But prayer does change the action of God.” The most important thing a born again Christian can do is to pray.” Sidlow Baxter Men may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons, but they are helpless against our prayers.”  E.M. Bounds God shapes the world by prayer. The more prayer there …

The Power series Part 2

THE POWER OF PRAYER “Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on earth. God does nothing but in answer to prayer.” – John Wesley There are three levels OF PRAYER. The higher we go up in these levels the deeper we will experience God. I believe that God a calling us to experience the third level on a regular basis, because that is where prayer is most effective and powerful. 1. Level of known words… Matthew 6:8 – 13 This is where we communicate with God in plain English, French, Swahili, Cantonese, or Spanish. This is where we communicate with God through worship, petition, supplication, confession, intercession, thanksgiving. You speak your mind to him using known words. On this level we can tell God what is on our mind. This is the level of known words. 2. Level of unknown words. 1 Cor. 14:10 …
