How did this world get so messed up?

Do you sometimes wonder what life is all about? Why were you born? How you can obtain true happiness? If you have ever asked these questions, then this very long post is just for you to get all you questions answered. QUESTION # 1: How Can You Know The Truth? Science, History and Observation You can learn many wonderful things about the world and its people through science, history, and observation. However, you cannot learn the answers to many of the great questions of life from these sources. They do not tell us how life began, what its purpose is, and what the future holds. The Bible Only the One who made the world can tell you how He did it and why. He tells us the truth about these things in His book, the Holy Bible. It is a book of instructions for living in this world and is proven to be historically reliable! In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Bible, Genesis 1:1) Through him all things were made; without …

12 Powerful words or phrases that command Heaven’s Attention

Part 1 The bible say “without faith it is impossible to please God.” God is always pleased when His children exercise their faith. It attract his attention and pleases him enormously. Here are a few instances in the bible when faith caught heaven’s attention: Our God is able to deliver… Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us… and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up. Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods. Daniel 3:16-24 Just say the word… I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, …

Abba, My Father

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. Romans 8:15-17 There are seasons and times in our lives when fear, uncertainty and doubts suffocate the assurance of knowing God as not only King, Savior or master, but Father. Sometimes we get squeezed into a mindset that equates him as no different from our earthly fathers. In fact, sometimes it is easy for us to see Jesus relating to the Father with this joyful confidence, but we may see ourselves as disqualified for it. In any event, it is quite liberating to have those doubts and fears lifted and our confidence reinforced by the Spirit that He is far different from our earthly …

Purified 7 Times

The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever. (Psalm 12:6, 7 ESV) Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. (Proverbs 30:5 ESV) Everyday we go about life looking for something we can rely on. Something that is constant, trustworthy, immovable. We want relationships that are reliable. We want people we can count on. Friends who will deliver on their promises. Husbands we can trust. Wives we know will be there, when the going gets tough. A career or a job that will be there even in tough economic times. I think this is a fundamental human need. Well, I’ve come to find security and reliability in God through Jesus Christ and his word. You can too! When the scripture says that God’s words are pure, refined, and purified 7 times, it insists that they have no lies, flattery, insincerity or …

Which Jesus do you Serve?

The Mormons call him the polygamist half-brother of lucifer… The Jehovah Witnesses call him the created arch angel Michael… The Metropolitan Tabernacle Churches claim that he endorses homosexuality and is somewhat of that tendency… The New Spirituality contents that he is part of the Christ consciousness and the cosmic divinity… Islam insist that he is not God… The Jesus I believe in is: one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God; begotten, not made; being of one essence with the Father; by Whom all things were made; Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from the Heavens, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man; And was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, suffered and was buried; And arose again on the third day according to the Scriptures; And ascended into the Heavens, and sits at the right hand of the Father; And shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the …

Too good to be true!

The Romanticized ideals of Perfection Successful pastors and church organizations almost always seem cooler from a distance. But the closer you get to the pastor or the church organization, the easier it is to see all their flaws, blemishes, and failures. I am not talking about immoral or sinful behaviors. If you find yourself under such leadership it is more than okay to flee. I’m talking about things like leadership styles and flaws, relationship hiccups, poor conflict management skills, bad choices in the little things of life, etc… Usually people begin to flip out big time when their expectations of a pastor or a church organization doesn’t measure up with their romanticized ideals. They begin to become negative, slanderous, disrespectful, arrogant, rude and sometimes rebellious. A Personal Illustration For me, it happened when I was young and on a church staff. I didn’t know better, and I soon started flipping out when I began to see some things that I kind of disagree with. Every time we had a staff meeting somebody in the group will say …

All In

We have seen what it means to love the Lord with all your heart and with all you soul. Today, I will continue this blog series by sharing what it means to love the Lord with all your mind. This will be the 3rd part in this 4 part series ALL IN And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30 The Mind is the seat of the intellect. Hebrews 11:3. To love God with all the mind is to love God through our thinking. Hebrews 11:3 says by faith we ‘understand’. What does it mean – “by faith we understand?” It means – “by faith we think.” Faith is not inconsistent with thinking. Sometimes we see faith as purely mystical. But true faith requires thinking, reasoning and rationality (Matthew 6). I understand that there are some things you just can’t explain, but I am deeply offended when our culture tells me that because I …

Pillars of Christmas

Pillars of Christmas: The 5 Messages of Christmas What is Christmas all about? Well, most of you reading this post already know. I don’t even have to say it. Christmas is about God – how He loved us so much that He gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. So we know that in many ways Christmas has been hijacked. Santa has  stolen the show and some very smart people have spun it so well in order to make a profit. But in any case we all know that Jesus is the reason for the season. In this post I would like to highlight the 5 messages of Christmas. This is the Christmas series (Pillars of Christmas) I preached last year in five weeks. These are the firm pillars that sustain Christmas and makes it what it ought to be. Today I will deliver this series in one single post. But before I do that let me introduce the 5 messages through this short video we created for an intro: Pillar # 1. Faith. “And Mary said, “Behold, I …
