Pillars of Christmas: The 5 Messages of Christmas
What is Christmas all about? Well, most of you reading this post already know. I don’t even have to say it. Christmas is about God – how He loved us so much that He gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. So we know that in many ways Christmas has been hijacked. Santa has stolen the show and some very smart people have spun it so well in order to make a profit. But in any case we all know that Jesus is the reason for the season.
In this post I would like to highlight the 5 messages of Christmas. This is the Christmas series (Pillars of Christmas) I preached last year in five weeks. These are the firm pillars that sustain Christmas and makes it what it ought to be. Today I will deliver this series in one single post. But before I do that let me introduce the 5 messages through this short video we created for an intro:
Pillar # 1. Faith. “And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.” Like Mary, we are all presented with this difficult to wrap your brain around incarnation of Jesus Christ the Son of God. The question is always “how can this be?” Christmas is God’s invitation to put your faith in Jesus and let him be birthed in you.
Pillar # 2. Hope. “And now I stand here on trial because of my hope in the promise made by God to our fathers.” Christmas is God’s declaration that there is hope for everyone in this dark and cruel world. That He has prepared a better world for us. The hope of spending eternity with Him.
Pillar # 3 Love. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Christmas is God’s final attempt to reveal how lavished and deep his love is for humanity. Christmas is a generous display of how far he will go and how much he will do win mankind back to himself.
Pillar # 4 Peace. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” Christmas is the infusing of God’s ever abiding presence that give us peace with Him and helps us to know His peace .
Pillar # 5 Joy. “And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” Christmas is message of Good News for all. This news is so good that it takes people beyond the fading and temporary state of happiness into a sustaining and lasting state of joy. That news is that Jesus Christ has come into the world to reconcile man to his creator.
Merry Christmas Everyone. To all my new found friends, you who inspire and encourage me everyday – May your Christmas be filled with faith, hope, love, peace and joy! May you experience these at their highest possible levels at the very core of your being.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Neat points.
