Hanging in the Bay

<;;;a I just met a guy who offered two gospel tracks to me. I did take them because I wanted him to give it to somebody who needed them. I asked him if he was a believer and he said yes… A convert from Islam. That Jesus appeared to him in his dream and told him to believe in Him and in the gospel. Well, he did and his entire family from Iran are now followers of Jesus. We sat and talked for a good 20-30 minutes and didn’t fail to mention how the Lord healed his dad from cancer – and how his dad immediately began following Jesus. My new friend is from Iran and I can not show you his picture nor share his name. He is on his way to India to do some missionary work. Please pray that God will protect and use this mightily. You can call him the evangelist from Iran when you pray for him. Friends, there are hundreds and thousands of these guys all around the world …

Is Treasure Island still a treasure?

Yesterday I decided to visit treasure island in San Francisco, you don’t only get a great view of the city if you are a photography enthusiast; but I still have a few friends living out there. Well, there are two new things I noticed on the island. One that shocked me and the other that had me praising God. Let me start with the good one: There is new c3church campus on the island. According to them C3 Church exists to connect people to God. They are passionate about the local church as God’s expression of his love, grace and mercy on the earth. Their hope is that people would make C3 their church home and find community that will help them not just believe but belong. And their website provides all the necessary information and resources to get to know and experience God, – it is a Church and people for yourself. Their pastors are Mark and Gail Smallcombe Well, the second thing that I wasn’t crazy about was a new addition to the …

What’s in your Hand?

Take the little you have and make it his – He will supply your every need! For the widow with a huge debt on her head and the creditors harassing her daily,  it was just a few drops of oil that she had. But after believing God’s word through the man of God – she gathered a few bottles, closed the doors of her house, and began pouring the oil. The oil never stopped flowing until she ran out of bottles. For Moses it was a leadership possession and a mission impossible for a guy with stammering lips and a rod in his hand. But God used him to lead His people into the promised land, worked 10 miraculous signs and parted the red sea by the stick of a nomad. For Gideon, the least of his brothers, it was this sense of low self esteem and a disturbed vision or assessment of who He was. When he looked at himself all he saw was weakness, failure, incompetence. But when God saw him – He …

Anger does not produce the righteousness that God Requires

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. you covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. James 4:1-2 What causes us to get angry? I believe we get angry because our desires are not fulfilled; our rights violated, our expectations are not met and because we have been hurt by someone. In any case, our unfulfilled desires result into anger. Everyone of us have areas in our lives where we are most susceptible to anger. I can almost hear my wife’s voice in the back of my mind – “stop pushing my button.” Let name a few I struggle with – I will surprised if you don’t: disobedient children a stubborn person yelling stress at work last-minute changes feeling neglected hurtful words unrealistic expectations disrespect unmet desires The list goes on! Our unfulfilled desires lead to fighting and quarreling. When any one of these occur in our lives, it causes us to react in anger. Anger in and of itself is …

I wish I could have told him in the Living Years

I wasn’t there that morning When my Father passed away I didn’t get to tell him All the things I had to say… Here’s a great video & song from the 80’s from Mike & the Mechanics “The Living Years”. The video being shot in West Somerset,England (Oct ’88) with the beautiful scenery with this song show why the 80’s (& early 90’s also) were great.Though we can’t go back in time (not yet at least) as long as we have videos & songs like these then they will give us a chance to go back & remember the good times, the bad times & the best times of our lives FOREVER! Remember & Never Forget! Every generationBlames the one beforeAnd all of their frustrationsCome beating on your doorI know that I’m a prisonerTo all my Father held so dearI know that I’m a hostageTo all his hopes and fearsI just wish I could have told him in the living yearsCrumpled bits of paperFilled with imperfect thoughtStilted conversationsI’m afraid that’s all we’ve gotYou say you just don’t see itHe …

Code of Ethics for Pastor

We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. (2 Corinthians 6:3) Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. (Philippians 1:27) All who are called by God to the ministry of the gospel solemnly commit to a life of joyful obedience and selfless service in order to glorify God and enrich his people. Therefore, a minister will: Pursue Integrity I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. (1 Chronicles 29:17) • in personal character. Exalt Christ, not self. Be honest, not exaggerating or overpromising; peace-loving, not contentious; patient, not volatile; diligent, not slothful. Avoid and, when necessary, report conflicts of interest and seek counsel. • in personal care. Care for the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical dimensions of your person, for “your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19). • in preaching and teaching. Interpret the Bible accurately and apply it discerningly: …

Do you feel so lost because you don’t know what to do?  Are you afraid that you are going to choose the wrong thing to do? Afraid of disappointing the Lord? Are your hopes and dreams fading fast? If your life is so cloudy… consider praying this today: Lord show me how To do things your way. Don’t let me make the same mistakes Over and over again. Your will be done And I’ll be the one To make sure the it’s carried out And in me, I don’t want any doubt That’s why… All I need to do Is hear a single word from you I open up my heart Just one word could make A difference in what I do Lord I open my heart to you… You’re the lover of my soul Captain of my sea I need a word from you That’s why I open up …

Cool-Aid (Gay Marriage)

Ed Young tackles the subject of gay marriage in a series he calls “Cool-Aid.” He shares from the Bible and looks at what God says about one of culture’s most pressing subject. Interestingly, the series is also about how we should approach them and how God’s truth can help us avoid drinking culture’s cool-aid! One of the most balanced, sound, sensitive and bold messages I’ve heard on the subject so far. see the full message here

Adrift

I heard a story some time ago about an ungodly farmer. It is said that when he  died, it was discovered in his will that he had left his farm to the Devil. In the court, they didn’t quite know what to do with it — how do you give a farm to the Devil? Finally, the judge decided: “The best way to carry out the wishes of the deceased is to allow the farm to grow weeds, the soil to erode, and the house and barn to rot. In our opinion, the best way to leave something to the Devil is to do nothing.” In the same way, we can leave our lives to the Devil doing nothing. Just let the weeds grow, and the soil of our hearts erode and our spiritual house rot, slowly drifting away with whatever currents this world might. But the Bible warns of the dangers of neglecting our great salvation: Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For since the …
