How can I keep from singing your praise?

I can sing in the troubled times Sing when I win I can sing when I lose my step And fall down again I can sing ’cause You pick me up Sing ’cause You’re there I can sing ’cause You hear me, Lord When I call to You in prayer I can sing with my last breath Sing for I know That I’ll sing with the angels And the saints around the throne. How can i keep from singing your praise how can i ever say enough how amazing is your love how can i keep from shouting your name a know i am loved by the king and it makes my heart i am loved by the king and it makes my heart i am loved by the king and it makes my heart want to sing. Chris Tomlin What happens to your praise when you are going through difficult times or when you fail? Do you find your self singing only when things are going great? Is it difficult to maintain an attitude …

My Grace is sufficient for you…for my power is perfected in weakness

Because of the extravagance of those revelations, and so I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations. Satan’s angel did his best to get me down; what he in fact did was push me to my knees. No danger then of walking around high and mighty! At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I …

Break my heart for what breaks Yours

Heal my heart and make it clean Open up my eyes to the things unseen Show me how to love like You have loved me Break my heart for what breaks Yours We are living in a day and time where everything we see or hear, potentially, has a deadening effect on us spiritually. The movies, the tv shows, the music and even our culture has this deadening effect on our sensitivity to what is holy and of God. Some of us have already become desensitized to these horrors and filth all around. To become desensitized is to become numb, stupefied or less likely to feel shocked or distressed at scenes of horror, sexual perversion, cruelty, violence and suffering by overexposure to such images. That is why a prayer like “break my heart Lord, for what breaks yours” is so powerful and timely. Would you join me today and for the rest of the week in praying this prayer – “break my heart Lord for what breaks yours?”. Would you join in sounding the alarm …

Yes! He is God.

I grew up going to the kingdom hall. My entire family used to be Jehovah’s Witnesses. So the very first question I asked the Jesus when I got saved was this – “Are You God?” His answer was a resounding “yes!” From the day he showed me John chapter 1, it has remained one of my favorite chapters in the entire Bible. The bible talks about the beginning. The beginning of Genesis 1:1 – when God created the heaven and earth. It is not talking about the beginning of God – because God has no beginning. Therefore since God has no beginning but exist from eternity to eternity and the word was with Him in eternity the ‘Word’ (Jesus) could not have been created. In fact the bible says, the ‘Word’ was with and the ‘Word’ was God. This ‘Word’ stepped out of eternity into time in the person of Jesus – the Christ – the Son of the living God – which happens to be a technical term used for Jesus. He has always been …

What’s in your Hand?

Take the little you have and make it his – He will supply your every need! For the widow with a huge debt on her head and the creditors harassing her daily,  it was just a few drops of oil that she had. But after believing God’s word through the man of God – she gathered a few bottles, closed the doors of her house, and began pouring the oil. The oil never stopped flowing until she ran out of bottles. For Moses it was a leadership possession and a mission impossible for a guy with stammering lips and a rod in his hand. But God used him to lead His people into the promised land, worked 10 miraculous signs and parted the red sea by the stick of a nomad. For Gideon, the least of his brothers, it was this sense of low self esteem and a disturbed vision or assessment of who He was. When he looked at himself all he saw was weakness, failure, incompetence. But when God saw him – He …

Spare the Rod Spoil the Child: What the Bible really says about Discipline

Three days ago police in Fayetteville County, GA arrested the senior pastor of World Changers Internation Church on simple battery charges. Video In a Sunday morning speech to his congregation, Pastor Dollar said that the accusations about him choking punching and kicking his 15 year old daughter are completely false, and anything else is “exaggeration and sensationalization.” The pastor than went on to talk about the challenges of parenting. So today I would like for us to explore with Chip Ingrram what the bible says about this challenge. Oh how I hate small groups!

A few years ago I preached a message at a thriving church where I served on staff. It was at the time small groups were gaining momentum. Every church around the world and especially here in the USA was all about getting people of the same interest, same profession connected in the same group. Unfortunately, I began to notice that all the cool people were joining groups with  other cool people – you know, like some did in high school. And the not so cool people we being left out. So I preached on a passage from Romans 12:16: Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. After my message I was sent into the office of the big man on campus (senior pastor) where I was grilled for a few minutes. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to hang with like-minded folks, but if we really want to live in authentic community, we need to understand what community really …

Kerfuffle among brothers

Webster-Merriam People’s Favorite Words and how the Bible might have something to say about it. Part 3 Kerfuffle – disturbance, fuss! To create a scene and attract lots of attention. A social brouhaha. alteration of carfuffle, from Scots car- (probably from Scottish Gaelic cearr wrong, awkward) + fuffleto become disheveled First Known Use: 1946 I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. Philippians 4:2 Euodia and . . . Syntyche: probably deaconesses in the church here in Philippi. These two women were the source of some sort of quarrel in the church. Instead of taking sides or trying to “solve” their problem, Paul simply tells them to be of the same mind in the Lord. Whatever the dispute was about, Euodia and Syntyche had forgotten what their common ground was in Jesus Christ. They forgot that everything else was less important than that common ground. They had a falling out or disagreement over some point of doctrine or practice, and the animosity between them had become a problem in the whole church. Paul simply tells them – hey ladies, …
