And he said, “Tomorrow.” Moses said, “Be it as you say, so that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God.
Exodus 8:10
Have you ever had a “duh” moment reading the Bible? A moment when you perceived that the action or decision taken by someone you are reading about was foolish or stupid. Well, I had one the other day reading Exodus chapter 8. God had sent Moses to Egypt to tell Pharoah to let His People go. If Pharoah did not let the people go, He would pour his wrath upon the land.
Chapter 8 of Exodus is where we find our second wrath. The first being the turning of the river Nile into a river of blood. Seven days after that, one would think Pharaoh will repent and let the people go. Instead, he hardens his heart and sits through another horrifying experience. This time it’s frogs. Frogs are everywhere. They came out of the land and covered it. Pharoah calls Moses and begs him to plead with God to take away the frog. Mosses asks him when do you want this to happen – and Pharoah says – Tomorrow! I am like “duh” if I were you, I want those frog gone yesterday. In fact, after a bloody first day, I will be kicking those Israelites out of town i a hurry. But Pharoah says tell God to stop the multiplication of these frogs tomorrow. What a tragedy! We all know how the story ends, sadly, we watch this guy say tomorrow over and over again until his first born is smitten with death. But here is the story that is even more tragic:
Jesus says Here I stand will you please let me in and you say I will tomorrow. Jesus says I will supply all your needs – and you say I know but tomorrow. Jesus says here I stand will you please take my hand and you say I will tomorrow.
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow –
You say – I’ll give my life tomorrow, But who promised you tomorrow? God never promised you tomorrow, because tomorrow may very well be too late. Who said that tomorrow will ever come for you? Still you laugh and play and continue on to say Tomorrow. Forget about tomorrow! Will you give your life today…?
As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
Please don’t just turn and walk away! Tomorrow is not promised. Don’t let this moment slip away. Your tomorrow could very well be here today.
