Teamwork

“Coming together is a beginning, and staying together is progress, but only when teams sweat together do they find success.” – John Maxwell “It is the very essence of good leadership to give away all credit for positive achievement, to identify only team goals and always to refer to them as such.” — Joe Klock “Remember the difference between a boss and a leader; a boss says ‘Go!’ … a leader says ‘Let’s go!’ — E.M. Kelly “Teams make you better than you are, multiply your value, enable you to do what you do best, allow you to help others do their best, give you more time, provide you with companionship, help you fulfill the desires of your heart and compound your vision and effort.” – John Maxwell “The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say ‘I’. And that’s not because they have trained themselves not to say ‘I’. They don’t think ‘I’. They think ‘we’; they think ‘team’. They understand their job to be to make the team function. They …

The Power of Delight

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 ESV Psalm 73 is a Psalm attributed to Asaph. Asaph was the music directed of King David who himself wrote most of the Psalm. But in Psalm 73, Asaph tells us how for a while he’d questioned the faithfulness of God toward his own. He tells us how much he envied the wicked because he looked at their lives and saw how much they prospered and how they had everything they wanted. But when he looked at his very own life and those of other God-fearing people, all they had were trials, troubles, tribulations and afflictions. This was something he couldn’t understand. Why would a godly man like him be afflicted with so much troubles and pain and lack, while the wicked lived in prosperity and ease? He goes on to describe how he began to trip and slip until he got heavenly perspective. Check out verses 2, 3 and 17: But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, …

Purified 7 Times

The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever. (Psalm 12:6, 7 ESV) Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. (Proverbs 30:5 ESV) Everyday we go about life looking for something we can rely on. Something that is constant, trustworthy, immovable. We want relationships that are reliable. We want people we can count on. Friends who will deliver on their promises. Husbands we can trust. Wives we know will be there, when the going gets tough. A career or a job that will be there even in tough economic times. I think this is a fundamental human need. Well, I’ve come to find security and reliability in God through Jesus Christ and his word. You can too! When the scripture says that God’s words are pure, refined, and purified 7 times, it insists that they have no lies, flattery, insincerity or …

My Hope is build on nothing less!

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand. 1st Published in 1836 Edward Mote My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. His oath, His covenant, His blood, Support me in the whelming flood; When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found; In Him, my righteousness, alone, Faultless to stand before the throne. Note: Our hope for eternal life depends completely on Jesus’ righteousness. There is nothing we can do to add unto the finished work of Jesus. Even though there are times when doubt, fear and darkness of this world will challenge our faith we can rest assure that he …

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus

Proverbs 3:5, 6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” I have been praying, waiting and trusting the Lord for something very important, but over the last two days, I have become increasingly anxious about it. So I decided to go to church and sing some old hymns. I thought, maybe that will help me snap out of my anxiousness. You know what, it worked. After singing a few of my favorite hymns, this one ministered more than the rest and  for practically the entire day, I couldn’t stop singing it. I can now say with confidence, I know that my God will take care of me. Let me sing it over you if you are feeling anxious today. I pray that you will find the grace to trust him more. I’m not too confident you will like my voice, or my playing, but just take it as a joyful ‘Noise’ of encouragement. Tis so sweet …

The Power of Reduced Options

Back in the day I remember the days when people used to say – Jesus or God is all I’ve got. Now I hear them say – He is all I got ‘left’. As if, I’ve tried everything else and came up short, so I’m turning to Him – He is my last resort. I know we don’t necessarily say it out loud, but we act as if we have this rich uncle who will bail us out when we are in a financial jam or so, and if he doesn’t, well, than we can turn to God for some help. So I guess the question here is who do you go to first when problems arise in your life? Do you turn to your well-connected friends in high places? Do you start looking for all the people to whom you’ve done a favor to get a pay-back, or do you turn to God? If God is not our only option than we are going to continually rely on Wall-street, on our medical insurance, on our …
