A Savior is Foretold
Christmas has always been about God fulfilling his promises to his people. Just like it was two thousand years ago so it is again this year. There are four promises according to this passage that God wants to release upon us this christmas. Jeremiah 33:14-16 Parallel Translation: The Promise of Justice The Promise of Righteousness The Promise of Salvation The Promise of Well-being he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely… God always keeps his promises, and as he did in time past to direct the future (Jeremiah 33:1-5), heal the land (Jeremiah 33:6-13), and fulfill the Davidic covenant (Jeremiah 33:14-26), so will he fulfill all his promises toward you at christmas. May this message create in you an expectation for great things this Christmas.
Pillars of Christmas
Pillars of Christmas: The 5 Messages of Christmas What is Christmas all about? Well, most of you reading this post already know. I don’t even have to say it. Christmas is about God – how He loved us so much that He gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. So we know that in many ways Christmas has been hijacked. Santa has stolen the show and some very smart people have spun it so well in order to make a profit. But in any case we all know that Jesus is the reason for the season. In this post I would like to highlight the 5 messages of Christmas. This is the Christmas series (Pillars of Christmas) I preached last year in five weeks. These are the firm pillars that sustain Christmas and makes it what it ought to be. Today I will deliver this series in one single post. But before I do that let me introduce the 5 messages through this short video we created for an intro: Pillar # 1. Faith. “And Mary said, “Behold, I …
Christmas Generosity
Cast your bread upon the water: Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days. Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth. If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth, and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie. He who observes the wind will not sow and he who regards the clouds will not reap. As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything. In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good. Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 Your giving is going to be a win win situation… someone will truly be blessed and you will be blessed in return as well … …
The greatest gift of Christmas
Matthew 2:11 ( post from 2010 Christmas) Yesterday I shared a message with our community about how all the decorations, and festivities, and the overwhelming busyness leading up to Christmas day – how all these activities – the shopping, the wrapping and the traveling and feasting – as good as they are in themselves – how they are so infinitely less, insignificant and pale in comparison to the awesome and indescribable incarnation of the Christ Child. In deed He is the most important reason for the season. He is also the greatest gift of Christmas. And having him in your life is going to change your life forever. Another important aspect of the Christ being the greatest gift that can change a life stems from two things: The very act of God himself – “He loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son. What an extraordinary gift. Also in Matthew 2:11 where it says, “opening their treasures” they lavished him with gifts. I believe God has given us the examples throughout scripture to be givers. People …
