And usually these young men and women left because of a lack of leadership – one that inspires, impacts and deploys, lack of opportunities to use their gifts, because those in charge felt threatened, a lack of gospel power and Holy Spirit’s fire, and a lack of vision to do church differently – take risks – do new things – do some out of the box ministries. tap into the energy of the young.

I think it is important that we learn how to discern right from wrong, good from evil and truth from error. Our world constantly bombards us with error and half-truths. and the fact that we have to make decisions and choices every day makes it even more important. One of the ways we do that is by allowing the “Word of Christ to dwell in us richly teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom.” This refers to the teaching about Christ as well as the words of Christ himself, which were part of the oral traditions passed on to believers. We are also to “put on the whole armor of God to be strong in the Lord and able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Unfortunately most of us want to wear the armor without the most important piece – the belt of truth. The test of love is obedience, and the reward of obedience is a self-manifestation of Christ

Jesus said, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them” (John 14:21). How do we prove our love for Jesus? Is there a reward for loving obedience? In the passage above we learn that the only way to prove we love Christ is by our obedience. We can give ourselves up to be burned, but, it wouldn’t mean that we love him. We could give all our possessions to the poor, but it still wouldn’t prove that we love him at all. The only way to prove we love Christ is by our obedience. This is one of those commands that come with a promise. If we love him, he will love us and will show himself to us. That is an amazing promise. I hear about Christians who still doubt that they are saved. They have no assurance at all about their relationship with the Lord. They …

Do you ask the Lord before making decisions, or do you just wing it. Do you rely on a hunch or a gut felling? I would assume that most of you reading this blog post take very seriously these words – “in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.” Unfortunately, many believers don’t have that much patience to acknowledge the Lord in anything. In 1 chronicles 14:14 we find this really great example of David seeking guidance from the Lord about the way he should take. What a great example: And when David again inquired of God, It is not clear how David inquired of the Lord, since Abiathar did not come until David was already in Keilah (1 Sam. 23:2, 6). Perhaps he inquired through the prophet Gad (cf. 22:5). But we can confidently say that he inquired of the Lord directly in prayer. El Roi – The God of Seeing I have studied Genesis chapter 16 many times but didn’t realize there was a deeper truth hiding in this verse 13. The angel of the Lord comes to Hagar and begins to speak some very comforting words to her. We understand that Hagar is in this place because she we kicked out of Sarah’s and Abraham’s home after bearing a child for the couple. After the angel appeared to her and began to talk with her; she mentions something very profound – but you will miss it if you don’t pause for a second or two to dig a little deeper.  She said,  “you are the God who sees.” Hagar is impressed by the perceptiveness of God as revealed through his angel-messenger. This is seen in the name she gives to the Lord; she calls him ’El Ro’i – meaning – God of seeing. For she is saying – here I have seen him who looks after me.
