A restful trust in His authority
“He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to his own disciples he explained everything. And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”” Mark 4:34, 39-41 ESV When Jesus fell asleep in the boat during a massive storm – it was a purposeful and deliberate action. One that was meant to move His disciples to a posture of restful trust – instead – they were fearful of losing their lives and blamed Jesus for not caring enough. If Jesus didn’t care – He would not have been in that boat. Three questions for us: You see… sleeping, for Jesus, does not mean unawareness or indifference to dangers surrounding Him or His followers. It means absolute confidence …
