10 Scriptures for Gloomy Days of Depression

Depression is an issue that impacts everyone. Christians and unbelievers alike suffer from fear, anxiety, and overwhelming stress. If you are not depressed than you know somebody who is or has been. In any event, depression is not fun. In time past the Church have in many ways sidestepped the issue and was dismissive of it. For most Christians, even admitting that they suffer from depression is something you just don’t do because others see you as a defeated, demon possessed Christian. But no matter where you are in your struggle, you can always find solace in Jesus, Hope and courage from scripture and practical advice and counseling to lift you out of your gloomy days of depression. Or at least help you walk through it. Allow me to share a few: He’s got gold in mind Job 23:1; 9, 10
My hand is heavy on account of my groaning.
Oh, that I knew where I might find him, that
I might come even to his seat! on the left hand
when he is working, I do not behold him; he
turns to the right hand, but I do …

7 Joy Boosters

Too often we run around looking for joy in all the wrong places. We dig up wells that end up being “broken cisterns.” Remember, “we have no good apart from Him.” The sorrows of those who run after idols, pleasure and other gods will multiply. If there’s a lot of drama in your world, it’s going to drain out all your joy. Sometimes you have to stay away from all those divas, drama queens and kings in order to keep your sanity. Joy is a choice. So make that choice today. Don’t let the devil steal it. Don’t let those circumstances take your eyes of Jesus. Choose to react differently. Choose to praise instead of pout. Choose to stay positive. If you keep your mind on the Word, He will keep your heart full of joy. Meditate day and night on His Word. Let the Word of Christ dwell within you richly, and you will experience the fullness of His joy. I love the word “GAZE.” It means to look steadily and intently. No wonder …

Core Declarations 2017

Who are you listening to? What are you reading? Or, might I ask – what are you watching? Whoever, or whatever has your attention is shaping your life and your destiny. You say, “brother, I am not listening to anyone but myself.” Well, what are you telling yourself? If we are ever going to experience and enjoy the fullness of life, we must shame the naysayers and haters by living out the gospel in this hostile world, and win the war on negativity and pessimism, we must regularly remind ourselves by speaking the word of our confession. It is essential that we look into the word of God and allow it to shape our core values and principles. We must study, Meditate, confess and commit to radical obedience. Take 10: I’m known by God.  Even if the world never hears of me or never get to know me, I am persuaded that He knows me and It brings me satisfaction. I love my wife.  “All of her” – like someone said – “her perfect imperfections.” Just …

The Power of Meditation

What is Meditation? Meditation is an act of focusing one’s thoughts upon something to get a deeper insight or understand of that thing. It is allowing one’s thoughts to ponder or muse or in some instances turn a thought over and over in the mind as if chewing on a piece of meat to soften it before we can swallow it. It can either mean to think upon God, His word, or his works. In our context today it means thinking and reflecting upon God’s word with the goal of internalizing and personalizing eternal truths in order for them to affect our lives to the glory of the Father. This goal is usually attained through our keen observation of the text we are reading, our careful interpretation of what the text means and our humble application of  that text to our lives. Scripture References And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by …

Welcome to Saturday Morning Worship and Prayer Psalm 80:3, 7, 19 Let your face shine, that we may be saved! I really urge you to take 4:00 minutes of your precious time this morning to worship and pray the words to this song. It will lift you, inspire you and draw you closer to the Lord. Make the words to this song your very words not only in praise to the Lord, but also a prayer. In the name of Jesus – I bless you this today May the Lord make His face shine upon you. Amen!
