The Strongman is just and Old Man

We are all afraid of something. When it come to dealing with the enemy if our soul, that ancient serpant. We sometimes think he is stronger, bigger and badder. How much of a game changer would it be to understand that the strongman is just an old man. What difference will it make in your approach to dealing with him, if you had an insider’s understanding about what he thinks about you? What matters most in spiritual warfare, is not what you think about your enemy, it’s what your enemy thinks about you. Here is a story that does just that God appeared to him and called him “a mighty man of valor.” In the same chapter, just a few verses between each other, mother Lord commissioned him to “go and deliver Israel in this might that is yours.” God also insisted that “I will be with you.” The Lord established a covenant with him. Yet Gideon did not believe and asked God on two separate occasions to either wet or dry a fleece. Even after the …

More than Conquerors

I had the privilege of being a part of a missionary work in the West African nation of Ivory Coast, correctly know known as – La Cote D’Ivoire between 1990 and 1994. By the time I signed on, they had planted about 6 or more Churches around Abidjan – capital city. Those days were special: knocking on doors, walking the neighborhoods, holding All Night Prayer meetings and community gathering for fasting and praying. A revival was happening all around us – young and old coming to know Jesus and being filled with the Holy Ghost. These are some of the best days of my life and ministry. The people we ministered to were just like me. They were refugees, displaced, cut off from family, scattered in this foreign land and living among people with a strange tongue. They were often abused, and un-welcomed and mocked in the public square. You would think their pain and sorrow would define them, break them and leave them in despair. You would think their loneliness, loss, and inability to …

The Greatest Chapter in All of Scripture is the greatest chapter of my life

It was the summer of 1991. I was young and had discovered the joy of salvation, the hope of eternal life. There was a fire burning in my heart. I felt like I had been made new. I was born of God. His seed had budded within and I would never be the same. We had completed our baptismal classes. We were baptized. My spiritual father insisted that we memorize Romans 8. Everyone of us had committed the chapter to memory. We stood before the congregation, just before our first communion, and with one voice, one proud, loud and joyful voice, we recited the greatest chapter in the entire bible – Romans 8: The Spirit of Life There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of …

Rivers of Living Waters

In May of 1989 my family and I woke up to the sound of mortar blasts, and rocket launchers in our back yard. It was a great spot for the government soldiers because of the cliff overlooking the other side of the city, where rebel soldiers occupied. When we left our home that day, we came across many displaced people who had been without food and water for many weeks. The fighting was intense and life as we knew it, came to a stop. We had no idea what life would look like the next few weeks with less food and no source of safe drinking water. By the time we hit the second week on the run, we began to realize how important water is. Vital organs began to shut down because of dehydration. Skin began to get clammy. Coherent thoughts began to vanish. As we struggle to find safe drinking water, our mouths became dry; our heads ached and our Knees became weak. Sadly, many others fell by the roadside for lack of water. …

Is Anything too hard for God

Is anything too hard for God? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son. Genesis 18:14 Abraham and his wife, as we know, had no children for a long time. They had longed to have children, But Sarah was barren. In this chapter, they are old,  hopeless, a little bitter toward God. They had waited for a long time in prayer, but nothing yet had moved in their favor. Doubt and disappointment had set in! And instead of focusing on the greatness of God, they made their childless situation greater than God, by focusing on it. It is in this context that the question God asked Abraham is truly understood. “Is anything too hard for the Lord? The announcement of a somewhat miraculous conception for a woman in her old age was ridiculously laughable. So Sarah laughed. I think, a follow-up question would have put things – a little more in perspective for them: Is anything too hard for God? Haven’t you heard …

7 Promises I can use right now

When I was 5 years old my dad made a promise to me. A promise he was going to fulfill in 24 hours.  I was very passionate about soccer. I found myself skipping classes, at that early age, to go play soccer out in the fields. I guess, it was that rubber ball that we kicked around everyday that prompted ,my dad to get me a brand new and real soccer ball. I’ll never forget that morning when he whispered in my ear. That at the end of the day, I would have my own soccer ball. I was gripped with expectation. I couldn’t wait for him to come back home from work. I had it on my mind for the entire day. I always wanted one, but the likelihood of getting it that day, made my desire for it even more compelling. I waited for the car to turn into the drive way. And before he could get out of the car I was right there with arms outstretched. He didn’t fail me either. …

15 Prayers to encourage unity in the Body of Christ

My teenage daughter was at youth camp last week. They had the young and dynamic preacher named Isaiah Saldivar as the speaker every evening. It was really good. At the end of the week when I arrived to pick her up, they were doing a Q&A session and a few people were sharing. A young man got up and began to share about how frustrating it is for him when it comes to denominational differences. He is from a Nazarene church, but is cool with coming to a camp at an Assembly of God Church. I applaud him for speaking his mind about the frustrations too many young people face when it comes to this subject.  His willingness to seek God with friends from other denominations is a good step toward creating a friendly attitude to denominational differences. Having said that, I think too many Christians are mistaking to think that denominational differences are of the devil. I believe that there are denominational differences today because people naturally choose to align themselves with groups that hold or espouse their …

How I Learned Faith – Full Flame Film Series by Reinhard Bonnke

As wondrous as seeing God’s hand at work, is the power that answers our faith in “things not seen.” When we move beyond a Sunday-kind of faith to faith as a lifestyle, we open a connection to God that makes wonderful things possible. For soul-winners, faith is the essential element that helps us face problems with confidence, challenge fear, and go on. Fired by faith, we become true “conductors” of God’s power, allowing His love to flow through us.
