This one’s with me

NewSong sings This One’s with me
Songwriters: AHLSTROM, LEONARD / CARSWELL, EDDIE

I was dreaming about Heaven
I was standing at the Pearly Gates
We all there
And I was so scared in the presence of One so great
I felt so worried and unworthy
I felt like running away
I bowed my head and I turn to go
Then I heard someone say
Father, this one’s with me
Part of the family
One of the reasons I died
On Calvary
Father, welcome him in
I paid the price for him
Father, oh Father, this ones with me
I was dreaming about Heaven
When I looked up the gates were opened wide
And in the distance, I saw Jesus
Our eyes met, and I began to cry
Angels robed in their beauty
Were there to show me the way
And all of Heaven singing
When I heard His voice say
Father, this one’s with me
Part of the family
One of the reasons I died
On Calvary
Father, welcome him in
I paid the price for him
Father, oh Father, this one’s with me
Finally, we were there face to face
And He placed on me Heaven’s crown
I fell down on my knees
Laid my crown at His feet
Then He said, to me
Father, this one’s with me
Part of the family
One of the reasons I died
On Calvary
Father, welcome him in
I paid the price for him
Father, oh Father, this one’s with me

2 Peter 3:1-12

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God

This is Peter’s second letter, and his purpose was to stir the minds of his hearers by way of reminder concerning the second coming of the Lord. They needed to remember a few things: Number one, that the Lord’s promise to return will happen. Number two, that scoffers will come to discourage them, but they should always remember that the Lord is not slow to keeping his promises.

To drive the message home, Peter asked his hearers one question and told them that he expected three enthusiastic responds from them.

What kind of people ought we to be in view of the Lord’s return?

  • A holy minded people ( live in holiness and godliness). “Be ye holy for I am holy.”
  • A heaven minded people (wait for his return). “Fix your minds on things above…
  • A harvest minded people (hasting his coming). “And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached throughout all the earth – than the earth shall come.”

We ought to be holy minded people in the way we live, heavenly minded people  in terms of our focus and drive and harvest minded people in terms of our commitment to telling others about Jesus, salvation and heaven.
