"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable."
C.S. Lewis (The Four Loves)
I love this. It’s very true. Hard to do after your heart has been broken… But worth it, in the end. Someday… Thankfully, Christ will never break your heart…

I had one uncle who seemed more in love with his money than with almost any person. His greatest cruelty was to himself. Unrequited love is painful, but not the end of life. I see your love in they way you respond to your darling wife and precious daughters. So you are vulnerable, but happy. God, being Love must be in and around us for us to be complete. My desire is to love my dear God more. I am glad that you love!! Aren’t you??
