The Eternal One is my Shepherd

Psalm 23
The Eternal One is my Shepherd, He cares for me always.
He provides me rest in rich, green fields
besides streams of refreshing water.
He soothes my fears;
He makes me whole again,
steering me off worn, hard paths to roads where truth and righteousness echo His name.

Even in the unending shadow of death’s darkness,
I am not overcome by fear.
Because You are with me in those dark moments,
near with Your protection and guidance,
I am comforted.
You spread out a table for me,
provisions in the midst of attack from my enemies;
You care for all my needs. anointing my head with soothing, fragrant oil,
filling my cup again and again with Your grace.
Certainly Your faithful protection and loving provision will pursue me,
where I go, always, everywhere.
I will always be with the Eternal One,
in Your house forever.

In this version or translation of the 23rd Psalm, the message that stands out to me is this:
The Eternal One is my Shepherd… He is always with me… And I will always be with Him.

He is there to provide Care
He is there to provide Rest
He is there to provide protection
He is there to provide guidance
He is there to provide Grace
He is there to provide my Needs

Finally, too often when we use the word provision, we usually limit the word to Money in our pockets, food on our tables, or a roof over our heads. But the is a deeper meaning to the word. There are two parts to the word:
Pro – means before or ahead of time. And obviously,
vision – means sight or seeing.

What that means is that God is always looking ahead, anticipating needs and giving direction. God is all about the big picture and how He can get us there. So when you are in a dark valley, when you are surrounded by the enemy, He has already visualized and made a way of escape for us.

What do you think about this translation and what message do you take away from reading and listening to it? Share your thoughts. Thank You

  2. The shepherd leads his sheep and takes care of them by making sure they are fed, receive water, and protected. He guides them so they will follow his direction. The sheep knows the shepherd and the sound of his voice and they follow him. God is our shepherd and we are his sheep. He looks after us by providing and protecting us daily.
