I see you liked NewBroom’s post. I also liked Graeme’s reminder that all was finished at the Cross. Here is the comment I left on his blog:
Good post thank you. In him we are new creations, the old is passing away. We are sealed by his covenant, redeemed and await our inheritance pledged through the blood of our saviour. He bore our sins so that we could have his righteousness. This is good news, nothing we can do but all has been completed on the Cross. Jesus went Caperneum, he said repent, repent but many did not acknowledge him, they rejected his call, died in their sins. When facing the Holy and Just God the Bible tells us they will have been told, “depart from me you worker of iniquity I knew you not” and been cast into the lake of fire where all liars, fornicators, adulterers, thieves and homosexuals have their place. Our God is so loving that he was willing to forgive the sins of a filthy wretch like me. Who told you to free from the the wrath that is to come you brood of vipers, show fruit in keeping with true repentance for the axe is poised at the root of the tree to strike it down and throw it into the lake of fire when it fails to bear fruit. The Word of God is sharper than any double edged sword. Spurgeon said it doesn’t need defending, like a lion, release it and it will defend itself.
