Some call them Nomads – those “wondering away from traditional religious institutions but say faith is still important to them.” I call them the free radicals – and they have exposed themselves to Satan’s most effective tool – Separate them as far from fellowship as possible, because in the long run they will grow cold. These people are in big trouble.
Others are called Exiles – “exiles being those who are – still hopeful about their faith but feel stuck when they consider life’s challenges”. Jesus warns about this spiritual dilemma in Matthew 13:20-22. “As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” This is not just a cool name to give to oneself or to excuse somebody of their spititual responsibilities. This Christian life is a war we must wage everyday. And if someone is asking me to let them doubt God or allow them to sit on the fence of faith, I am sorry I can’t let you – because you can not afford to doubt.
And finally, the bible speak of them as Prodigals – “those who have completely disavowed themselves from Christianity.” Listen, I think every prodigal started out as a nomad and progressively moved from one stage to the other – for one reason or the another, doesn’t matter – what matters to Satan is that his mission is accomplished. Don’t let him win this thing, return to the Father he cares so much about you.
If i am talking to you today, I want you to listen to me. I want to speak with you about the love of a Father that will never fail. There is no darkness, no place so remote that can keep him from seeking and finding you. You can never be so bound by sin circumstance or the devil that he can’t lift your soul or your hope. There is nothing you face that is un-anticipated by His plan or unsurpassed by his power.
The Bible reference I want to leave you with describes him of having you on his mind constantly. His life has never been the same since you left. He is watching, looking and praying daily for your return. He holds nothing against you – only your refusal to stay return. You have no idea the kind of love He has for you. You think you have figure Him out – but you have no clue the depth of His love for you, the passion that fuels him to run after you daily and the joy he is looking forward to at you safe return. In all your young or long life – all you have tasted is nothing in comparison to what he has in store for you.
So why don’t you come home?
